Yesterday was one for my personal history books! I got to meet THE @jack.whitney.writer for lunch and she signed my original copy of Dead Moons Rising!

When I picked up reading for fun again early last year I never expected the things that have happened in the last year. But meeting Jack was definitely the cherry on top of it all!

I tried not to fangirl or be too awkward, but you know it’s hard when you meet one of your very favorite authors! And yall, Jack is the sweetest!

We’ve been talking on the internet for a little over a year. I remember messaging Jack when I read DMR and said “this is the dirtiest book I’ve EVER read!” Which we totally laughed about yesterday because that was just the beginning of my dark romance journey.

Thanks again for everything, Jack! I’ll treasure this memory forever!

I thought I was going to be making a big announcem

I thought I was going to be making a big announcement this week about my job search. Unfortunately, I’m not.

This job search has taught me a lot about myself and I thought I’d share a few.

🌱Even as an introvert, I’ve missed working with people and I can’t wait to have colleagues again.

🌱When I get attached to a company (the people, the culture, the values, the mission, the role) and I go all-in on the interview process, it’s completely heartbreaking to not get the job offer after the final round.

🌱It’s okay to take a mental health break and head to the mountains. Get lost in the woods. Connect with nature. That’s where I recharge and I need to remember to do it more often.

🌱I know a lot about a lot of things. Sometimes it is hard to understand how much I have learned over the last 4 years as an entrepreneur. Updating resumes and creative cover letters has revealed so much to me. From email marketing and tracking analytics to emotional intelligence and customer service, I’m bringing a plethora of knowledge with me to the future role I land.

🌱My value as a human and an employee is worth way more than a warm body to fill a quota.

🌱I’m more patient than I give myself credit for most days. I took a risk and turned down a job offer because I knew that something better was coming in the future. And while I thought it was coming a lot sooner, I know I am willing to wait for THE role and THE company.

🌱My personal values have become more clear. Give me transparency, communication, and collaboration all day long. I want a company, manager, and team that has integrity.

I don't know how to do anything "normal" - I have to do it my own way. A year ago today I decided I would invest in my health and fitness by hiring a trainer (@thefitdrprogram_wbffpro).

My husband thought I was making a mistake. Not because he didn't believe in me, but because "this is the stupidest time of the year to focus on eating healthy." 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ Well, that's true, but I needed to do it my way.

I honestly didn't know if I'd make it past a few months. That was my typical MO when it came to anything healthy. I'd go ALL IN for about 3-6 months and then it'd be back to pizza and donuts and diet soda. But I told my husband 1) how much I was paying Anna because I knew he would keep me accountable and 2) that I didn't want to die young due to all the health issues that run in my family.

Today is one of the proudest days of my life. I have officially worked out for 1 year with my trainer! The changes on the outside are visible, but the ones that matter the most are the ones yall can't see. Going to the gym is much more than about looks or weight loss. The gym is my outlet and it keeps my mind and body strong.

Also, I would NEVER have hired a trainer nor spent that amount of money had my sister not bitched at me for about 3 months to get my ish together. I was seriously on a downward spiral, mentally and physically due to grieving my dad.
